In quarter 2 of 2024 (July - September), Boaz supported a total of 188 people across all of our work and projects. This includes people supported through Boaz accommodation, floating support offered to people on the waiting list, the Refugee Homelessness Prevention Project and RESS (the Restricted Eligibility Support Service).
We’ve been so encouraged that we’ve been able to do more to end destitution in this past quarter - the above figure represents an 83% increase from the same time period last year. During July - September 2024 we have seen:
- 56 people supported through Boaz accommodation
- 132 people supported through Floating Support:
- 59 new RESS referrals accepted
- 44 referrals accepted for the Refugee Homelessness Prevention Project
- 29 people supported while on the waiting list for Boaz refugee housing
In just three months, 43 people who were experiencing homelessness now have somewhere to stay after accessing Boaz floating support through RESS or the Refugee Homelessness Prevention Project.
As well as this core support work, our support team have also provided a varied programme of Boaz Life events, training and trips. These have included a Financial Wellbeing & Money Safety session, a trip to Ordsall Hall in Salford, Renting Ready training, and a number of women’s and men’s wellbeing sessions.
One of these sessions recently focused on wellbeing through art and was led by an NHS wellbeing artist. The women created a Sashiko sample (a form of Japanese decorative reinforcement stitching) and found that the activity helped them to maintain focus and relaxation.
