TV Licence for learning English
Our clients come from all over the world- we have individuals from over 15 different countries, including Algeria, Congo, Iran and Sudan. Many come with basic or no English-speaking skills, and this means they have real difficulty in a number of aspects of life. For instance, if they have to wait for a translator to help them with their legal case, this may cause delays. If they can’t read or write in English, they will struggle to know what their rights and responsibilities are whilst they are applying for asylum.
We’ve got 8 houses and each house’s licence costs £145. This is an area we struggle to get funding for, so your help would be really appreciated. Take a look at our Accommodation page for more on the other areas of need.
£50 will pay for a TV licence for 4 months in one of our houses; this really is an amazingly practical way to help our clients learn English and experience integration with British culture, and a great gift for anyone who likes communicating with others, or even if you secretly like being a coach potato!
