:: Meaningful Lives

The BOAZTrust is an holistic work that seeks to care for & serve destitute asylum seekers as whole persons.

Theologically we are convinced that all persons are created in the image of God - “God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male & female He created them” for this reason alone they deserve respect & care

Being created in the image of God we all have at least three distinct areas of need:

1. The need of companionship Jesus said “I & the Father are one” (John 10:30)
we believe in a triparte God (the Trinity: Father, Son & Holy Spirit) that has enjoyed fellowship for all eternity & having been created in His image we have an inbuilt created need for companionship

2. The need of communication “The LORD our God has shown us His glory & His majesty, & we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a man can live even if God speaks with him “ (Deut 5:24) - God still speaks & communicates today being created in His image we have an inbuilt created need for communication

3. The need of creativity “In the beginning God created the heavens & the earth” (Gen 1:1) Being made in the image of a Creator God we also have an inbuilt need for creativity

In response to these needs BOAZ has developed the Meaningful Lives Project - this involves:

‘Days Out’ to enjoy each other’s company & other activities - this has included trips to the countryside, to museums, to the cinema & most recently a week on Ions

Classes to develop the asylum seekers as people & intellectually - this has included ESOL classes, computer classes & cookery classes alongside this there has also been opportunity when working on the houses or gardens to pass on new skills & to develop relationships as we work together

Crafts a number of BOAZ Greeting Card & Craft projects have been developed, & continue to be developed - these include Christmas Cards, Easter Cards, General Cards & BOAZbands which are marketed to provide another source of support but also allow for a opportunity to talk & relate as we work together

Additionally, there is also the need to ‘just be there’ at times to be a listening ear & a concerned friend
