Local organisations
MRSN – the ‘Manchester Refugee Support Network’ is a grass-roots organisation directly managed by refugee communities, based just down the road from us in Manchester. Their work focuses on development of refugee organisations, advocacy and campaigns, and advice and orientation.
Refugee Action – the local branch of this organisation run a one stop shop for refugees & asylum seekers in Manchester.
The British Red Cross – the local branch of the BRC run a destitution project with us each week at St Bride’s Church, Harpurhey, and we have also partnered with them in this year’s night shelter provision.
The Mustard Tree – we’re lucky enough to share our office building with these amazing guys, check out their website for more about the work they do with homelessness in Manchester.
Rainbow Haven – another local asylum seeker and refugee support service, doing some fantastic work amongst the destitute in our city.
WAST – ‘Women Asylum Seekers Together’ is another great organisation that we often partner with, running campaigns and supporting female asylum seekers in Manchester.
Regional/national organisations
NACCOM is a national network for organisations working in the field of destitution, set up by our director in 2006. It contains more than 27 organisations and has an annual conference. The network exists to resource and empower local organisations to find local solutions to the problem of destitution.
Green Pastures Housing – this is one of our long term partners, working hard to provide ethical housing investments across the region.
ECSR - ‘Enabling Christians in Serving Refugees’ is a national organisation that assists & equips Christians to express God’s love in practical & informed ways to asylum seekers & refugees in the UK. Very useful database of Christian organisations & interactive Community Board. Dave Smith is on the Steering Group.
Refugee Council – this is the largest refugee organisation in the UK, with lots of expertise. We, along with over 40 other organisations, are involved in their ‘Still Human, Still Here‘ campaign.
JCWI - the ‘Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants’ is an independent national voluntary organisation, campaigning for justice & combating racism in immigration & asylum law & policy. Also offers free legal advice on asylum matters.
Faithworks – this is a national Christian umbrella organisation that empowers & inspires Christians & churches to change their communities & engage with the government & media. BOAZ is a Faithworks member organisation.
CAP – the ‘Church Action on Poverty’ group is an ecumenical, educational & campaigning organisation, committed to tackling poverty in the UK. We work closely with CAP on their ‘Living Ghosts’ campaign to end destitution amongst asylum seekers.
ICAR – the ‘Information Centre for Asylum & Refugees’ in the UK has an informative website on refugee issues.
BID - ‘Bail for Immigration Detainees’ is an independent charity that challenges immigration detention in the UK & works to secure the release of asylum seekers & migrants from detention.
HARP – ‘Health for Asylum Seekers & Refugees Portal’ contains everything to do with the health & welfare of refugees & asylum seekers that you’ll ever need to know!
NCADC – National Coalition of Anti-Deportation Campaigns - if you have time to write campaigning letters, this is the site for you! Even 15 minutes a day can help rescue someone from an unjust deportation.
