:: Campaigning
The Boaz Trust is actively involved in local awareness-raising through roadshows, events and the media. If you would like us to come and speak at your church, group or event please do get in touch.
We work to get true representations of asylum seekers in the press, recently featuring in the Big Issue and on BBC news.
We also partner with other organisations to campaign on a national level for the rights of asylum seekers in the UK. We recently went down to London to take part in the Strangers into Citizens rally calling for an earned amnesty for undocumented migrants who have been in the UK for 4 years or more, highlighting the plight of destitute asylum seekers.
Last year, we were also part the provocation which led to the Centre for Social Justice setting up an Asylum Committee, which produced an excellent report entitled ‘Asylum Matters’. We provided evidence for their research.
Check out the following websites to see how you can get involved in national campaigns:
Refugee Council’s ‘Let Them Work’ Campaign
Refugee Council’s ‘Still Human Still Here’ Campaign
Refugee Action’s ‘Refugee Awareness Project’
Church Action on Poverty’s ‘Living Ghosts’ Campaign
You could also raise awareness amongst your friends, family and community by doing a sponsored event.
