Looking for A Few Good Men…!
Our winter night shelter has just opened for the new season and we’ve already had a flurry of referrals and enquiries about the service. Each night we have space for up to 12 men who have been made homeless at some point during the asylum process, usually after receiving a decision – positive or negative- on their asylum claim.
We wouldn’t be able to run the night shelter each winter without our team of over 200 incredible volunteers. At the moment, we are looking to recruit just a few male volunteers who could join the rota of sleepover volunteers at our Monday night venue. There are at least two sleepover volunteers needed each night, who take over from the evening volunteers after around 9pm. They help make sure that everyone has what they need, is settled for the night, keep an eye out for any problems during the night, and then make sure everyone is awake and ready for breakfast in the morning.
If you are a man who might be able to spare one Monday night a month by fulfilling this vital role, please drop our night shelter coordinator, Vron, an email on firstname.lastname@example.org. She’d love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.
PS No need to feel left out if you’re not a man… head over to our volunteering page for another opportunity to help out at our night shelter!
