“They have given me food & toiletries…Boaz have been so good to me”

Free Shop – an Essential Service!

On the last Wednesday of every month, the Boaz Free Shop opens its doors. Our asylum seeking clients are not allowed to work or claim any benefits, and so they are often dependent on us for even basic food supplies. At Free Shop, they are able to choose from a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, tinned and dried foods, store cupboard essentials and toiletries.

It is an essential part of the service we provide, and one that makes a real difference to the lives of our clients.

One of our clients, Punki, recently reflected on what this support has meant to her:

“Boaz has helped me a lot. They have given me food, toiletries, and things to clean the house with. Boaz has been so good to me. I will never, ever forget it. I thank God for Boaz, and for the food they have given me!”

Here’s how you can get involved in Free Shop!

Make a donation – Click here to make a donation to our Free Shop giving page.

Alternatively, you can donate items for the shop directly to us. We have been overwhelmed by generous pledges of Christmas gifts, shoe boxes and hampers for our clients this year! However, we are always in need of basic food items used daily by our clients, specifically Basmati Rice, Oil, Sugar and Lentils. Next time you do the shopping, could you pick up one or two of these items and donate them to us?

Volunteer – It would be impossible for us to run the Free Shop without our wonderful volunteers. If you’re looking for an opportunity to serve asylum seekers in a practical way, we’d love you to consider volunteering with our Free Shop – if you are interested, please contact us by emailing volunteer@boaztrust.org.uk

A huge thank you to all of those who have made the Free Shop happen so far in 2017 through gifts of time, money and goods.
