DETAINED – new report on asylum seeking women locked up in the UK
Women for Refugee Women, have published a shocking new report documenting the experiences of asylum seeking women being detained in the UK. Boaz Chief Executive, Ros Holland said “this a brilliant, heart breaking and sobering read.”
The Boaz Trust supports the recommendation of the report – that detention has no place in the asylum process and that women who seek sanctuary in the UK should not be detained while their cases are being considered. Their cases can be heard while they are living in the community at much less cost and with fewer traumas to the asylum seekers themselves.
