No more beans please

We greatly appreciate donations of food and toiletries. These are passed on to clients at our monthly Drop In and are a great way of supplementing the basic food parcels provided by Boaz and the British Red Cross.

We’re often asked which items clients would find most useful. We recently put this question to clients and it turns out that they are not too fond of tinned soup, spaghetti hoops or baked beans! Lentils, pasta and tomatoes on the other hand are amongst the most popular items given out each month.

The items most favoured by clients are:

Tinned and dry goods, for example, chopped tomatoes, rice, pasta, lentils, tuna, sweetcorn, potatoes, eggs, sugar, tea, coffee, biscuits, cooking oil, halal food, fruit juice and soft drinks.

Fresh food such as carrots, onions, peppers, potatoes, bananas, mangos and nectarines

Toiletries for men and women: toothpaste, toothbrush, shower gel, moisturising cream, shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving foam, sanitary towels, roll on deodorant, perfume/body spray and aftershave/body spray.

Donations of less popular items such as cereals, soup, tinned ‘meals’, spaghetti hoops and baked beans may be passed on to the Mustard Tree homelessness charity.

Donations can be dropped off in office hours (9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday). Please call the Boaz office or email us to arrange a drop off time if you are bringing a large amount.

Many thanks for your support.
